Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Raman Mittal , co-founder, Idanim, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.

What is the one thing you like to do when not working?

When I’m not working, I enjoy engaging in activities that help me recharge and reconnect. These include meditating to centre myself, reading thought-provoking books, taking mindful walks surrounded by nature, and spending quality time with my kids. However, above all, the one thing I truly cherish is simply doing nothing. By “nothing,” I mean exactly that—no structured meditation, no specific activity, and no distractions. It’s about sitting quietly with myself, allowing my mind to wander freely, or simply observing the world around me. This seemingly simple act of stillness helps me reflect, find clarity, and truly experience a sense of peace and presence.

How do you spend your weekends?

My weekends, in many ways, mirror the rhythm of my weekdays but with one significant difference—the absence of calls, emails, and work-related meetings. This gives me the freedom to spend more quality time with my family, especially my kids, and focus on myself. I often meditate for longer durations, allowing myself to dive deeper into mindfulness practices and reflect on the week gone by.

Weekends are also a time for me to embrace the joy of doing nothing. I intentionally create pockets of silence and stillness, which is both restorative and energizing. Reading continues to be a daily habit, as does teaching meditation and mindfulness, which remains close to my heart. Weekends are not about hustle but about unwinding, re-cantering, and preparing for the week ahead with renewed energy.

What are your favourite gadgets?

Lately, reMarkable has emerged as my favourite gadget. It’s a digital paper tablet that I’ve grown quite fond of, and I find myself using it more and more. It allows me to write, take notes, and organize my thoughts without the distractions that often come with screens and notifications. Its minimalistic design aligns perfectly with my preference for simplicity and mindfulness. It helps me stay focused, declutter my thoughts, and seamlessly integrate productivity into my daily life.

Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?

To be honest, I can’t think of another career that I’d rather pursue. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a path that aligns so closely with what I love and value. Throughout my life, I’ve always been passionate about creating something meaningful—whether that’s through marketing, building connections, or teaching mindfulness and meditation. Today, I get to pursue all of these passions together. To me, this is more than a career; it’s a purpose. Teaching meditation and mindfulness, helping others find peace and balance, and creating work that adds value to people’s lives brings me immense fulfilment.

Which is your favourite vacation spot?

Rishikesh, without a doubt, is my favourite vacation spot. There’s something truly magical about this place. Nestled amidst the Himalayas and blessed by the sacred Ganges river, Rishikesh exudes a unique charm and energy that’s both calming and uplifting.

For me, it’s not just a destination but a space where I feel deeply connected—to myself, to nature, and to something larger than life. Whether it’s meditating on the riverbanks, walking through the peaceful ashrams, or simply soaking in the tranquil surroundings, Rishikesh has a higher vibrational energy that keeps drawing me back time and time again. It’s a place where I find peace, inspiration, and a renewed sense of purpose.

A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching

I highly recommend Life on Our Planet on Netflix. It’s a powerful and thought-provoking documentary that chronicles the extraordinary story of life on Earth over the past 4.5 billion years. Watching it is a profoundly humbling experience—it’s awe-inspiring to learn how everything we see and take for granted today has evolved over millions and billions of years.

The series dives into the fascinating transformations of life, from how a caterpillar metamorphoses into a butterfly to how reptiles developed fins and wings that enabled them to swim and fly. It also explores significant events like the five mass extinctions and the delicate balance that connects every life form on our planet.

This show serves as a powerful reminder of the immense intelligence and higher power that shapes and governs all life. It encourages us to appreciate the interconnectedness of our existence and the responsibility we hold in preserving it.
